Visitors Overview
Every time someone clicks a referral link or scans a QR code, Ambassador records it. The Visitors table surfaces all of that click activity so you can see exactly what's happening at the very first step of your referral funnel — before a conversion, before an order, before a reward. 👀
Where to Find It
Navigate to Audience Activity → Visitors in your Ambassador admin.
What Is a Visitor Click?
A visitor click is created whenever someone clicks an Ambassador-generated referral link or scans a referral QR code. Previously, this data was collected behind the scenes. Now it's surfaced directly in Ambassador so you can validate activity and analyze engagement in near real time.
Data Available Per Click
Each click record includes key contextual details:
- Click date — when the click happened
- Visitor source — which platform or channel it came from (social media, search engines, copy/paste, and more)
- Referrer email — the advocate whose link was clicked
- Campaign name — which campaign the link is associated with
- Source URL — the page the visitor came from, when available
- User agent — device type or bot identifier
- IP address — the visitor's IP
- Location data — country, region, and city
Note: Some sources — like SMS or certain apps — may not provide a source URL.
Why Visitor Click Data Matters
Visitor data gives you an early signal of program health before conversions or rewards even happen. Specifically, it helps you:
- Validate referral traffic and confirm it's coming from real users, not bots
- Identify high-impact advocates based on click volume and patterns
- Understand where your audience engages — which platforms, which regions
- Spot geographic trends in who's clicking on referral links
How to Use Your Visitor Data
Validate traffic quality — Check the user agent and source fields to confirm that clicks are coming from real people. Spot-checking as clicks come in quickly builds confidence in program activity.
Find your top advocates — The referrer email tells you which advocates are generating the most clicks. Use this to identify high performers, learn what they're doing differently, and reward or replicate their behavior.
Understand channel performance — Visitor source and source URL reveal where your referral traffic is actually coming from. Use this to tailor shareable content to the right platforms and focus enablement materials where advocates are most active.
Analyze geographic reach — Location data shows where visitors are located. Use it to confirm traffic aligns with your service area, identify unexpected regional interest, or inform localization decisions.
Export for deeper analysis — Export your visitor click data to build trend charts, combine it with CRM or BI tools, or share insights with your marketing or leadership teams.
Good to Know
- Visitor clicks are an early-stage signal — they happen before a contact is created or a referral attribution is made. High click counts with low attribution rates may indicate friction in your conversion flow.
- Visitor data is not retroactive — records are available from when the feature was enabled on your account.
