How to Change a User’s Profile or Permissions

Modify an internal user's information, role assignment, or notification groups.

Users with Full Access to Users & Roles, can edit user records—including their own.

Step 1: Open the Users Page

Navigate to Admin & Configuration > Users & Roles > Select Users tab.

Step 2: Locate the User & Select Edit

  1. Use the search field or browse the Users table to find the user you want to update.
  2. Then, select the user and click Edit.

Step 3: Update User Information

Within the popup window, make the necessary changes. Then, review & Save.

Administrators or users with Full Access permissions to Users & Roles can update:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email Address
  • Job Title
  • Phone Number
  • Role assignment
    • If you need to customize the role permissions instead of selecting an alternative existing role, you can click “Customize..” to create a new role and update permissions for it.
  • Notification groups

Important: Changes to a user's role take effect immediately after saving.

Who Can Update User Information?

Only users with Full Access to the Users & Roles section can update user records.

This includes:

  • Editing other users
  • Editing their own user profile
  • Updating role assignments
  • Managing notification group assignments

Users without access to Users & Roles cannot modify user records or their own.

Best Practices

  • Review user access when responsibilities change.
  • Remove access that is no longer needed.
  • Use groups to manage notification recipients.
  • Periodically review user roles to ensure permissions remain appropriate.
